Bossbus, a tech-based transportation solution provider firm, has revealed that empowering the youths across the country is very crucial to its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project.
Executive Director, Marketing, Bossbus, John Oluwatobi Olubimo, in an exclusive interview with The Industry, stated that the firm is constrained to deploy its empowerment strength to uplift the youths because, according to him, most of the young people are either not employed or not gainfully employed.
He said, “We have different layers of CSR, first one, which is very important to us as an organisation is youth empowerment. In Nigeria we have teeming population of young people, who are not employed or not gainfully employed.
“So the first layer of our CSR programme is targeted towards young people. So the first layer of youth empowerment is tech, that is very crucial to us, because that is where we draw our strength from.
He added that the firm has lined up a number of programmes designed to give back to the society where it operates. “So we have a number of programmes we going to roll out in the next couple of months. In the next couple of months, we are going to roll out programmes on youth empowerment. We are going train and build skills in people.
“We are also going to begin tech competitions and awards, just to encourage the young people to pick a skill. There is also motoring skills like driving, we are going to roll out free training as well,” he said.
According to him, there are a lot of young people who are not working and some of them getting into fraud, ‘yahoo-yahoo’ and all that, as he noted that “in another 20 years Africa will have the largest population in the world, and obviously we (Africa) are not producing enough team to meet the burden of huge population.
“In view of that, there will be increase in crime, there will be increase in drug abuse. So we really need to engage a lot of young people. We are looking at empowering a lot of young people.
Olubimo reiterated that Bossbus’ core value to clients, community and the general public has been so excellent as the firm daily innovate, “and we are also very customer-centric in all what we do. We think, we design for end users. So we design to suit the customers. We are innovative, we are reliable, we are excellent.”
