Employees of Abbey Mortgage Bank took a walk for the environment on Saturday to raise awareness on the effects of climate change.

A statement by the company stated that everyone was in one way of the other affected by the recent floods, adding that many residents in lowland areas had their homes destroyed.

The statement read in part, “On Saturday, November 19, 2022, Abbey Mortgage Bank took a stance to protect the environment by walking 8km to raise awareness to the overwhelmingly sad situation.

“Along with members of the Nigerian Red Cross, who were proud partners for the cause, the staff of Abbey Mortgage Bank walked the streets of Lagos singing and chanting words of motivation to onlookers.”
It said the mortgage bankers marched from the Lekki link bridge to Victoria Island.

The firm’s Group Head, IT and Operations, Lolita Ejiofor, said the company was proud to be part of the charity walk to raise awareness of the devastating effects of climate change and how it had impacted so many lives and livelihoods.

“We truly empathise with those families and are happy to work with the Nigerian Red Cross Society to help these flood victims,” she said.
